In 1946, Ni Lieshui was born in Shuohe Village, Jieyang City, Guangdong Province. His family was poor, and his mother suffered from chronic stomach problems for over forty years. When she turned 76, her condition became life-threatening. Her stomach pain worsened, leaving her unable to eat or drink for seven days and nights. She grew weaker until she fell into a coma.

Ni Lieshui couldn’t bear to see his mother suffer. Determined to help her, he set out to find a cure. He heard about a book called A Thousand Effective Remedies, said to contain powerful herbal prescriptions. Despite searching every bookstore in Jieyang, he couldn’t find it. Finally, a kind stranger directed him to a bookstore 200 miles away in Shantou. Ni traveled there and finally acquired the book.

He poured over its pages, searching for a remedy that matched his mother’s symptoms. After careful study, he crafted a formula of four herbs:

1. Puhuang (Acorus calamus) – to stop bleeding and soothe pain.

2. Baishao (white peony root) – to relax the muscles and relieve cramping.

3. Shancha (hawthorn fruit) – to improve digestion and break down food blockages.

4. Wulingzhi (Five Spirit Resin) – to invigorate blood flow and reduce stagnation.

Ni prepared the herbal medicine and fed it to his mother. She was in a coma, so his sister-in-law gently pried open her mouth with a spoon to give her the first dose.

The results were astonishing. Within an hour, her stomach began to rumble. Soon after, she passed several bowel movements, signaling her digestive system had restarted. By the fifth day of taking the herbal remedy, she could sit up on her own. Over the next 20 days, Ni continued treating her with carefully adjusted herbal prescriptions. By the end of the treatment, she was fully recovered. Her health was restored, and she went on to live another 15 years, passing away peacefully at the age of 91.

The success of this simple yet effective herbal formula not only saved his mother’s life but also transformed Ni Lieshui’s understanding of traditional medicine. He learned the profound power of herbal remedies when used with precision and care.

This experience inspired Ni to share his knowledge and help others.
